Description:

A beautiful Aragonite specimen from Tounfit Caidat, (Tounfite), Boumia Cercle, Midelt Province, Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco – featuring coral-like white Aragonite beautifully accented by pale blue Celestite crystals. The intricate Aragonite formations create an elegant, sculptural display, while Celestite adds unique interest. This specimen fluoresces under short wave UV and displays strong green phosphorescence after the light source has been removed for up to 6 seconds.

Also known as “Cave Calcite”, formed within natural cavities, these specimens exhibit the complex crystal growth and organic textures characteristic of cave-forming minerals. The striking contrast between the snowy white Aragonite and soft blue Celestite makes each piece a truly eye-catching display specimen.

Locality:

Tounfit has become renowned for producing exceptional Cave Aragonite but the associated Celestite is rare. These specimens formed within underground cavities as calcium-rich groundwater slowly deposited layers of Aragonite over thousands of years. As mineral-rich fluids continued to circulate through the cavities, Celestite crystallised at the tips of the existing Aragonite, creating this attractive and uncommon mineral association.

The locality is particularly admired for producing specimens with delicate crystal architecture, excellent aesthetics, and the distinctive combination of white Aragonite and pale blue Celestite. High-quality examples from Tounfite have become increasingly sought after by collectors for both their beauty and unusual mineralogical association.

Key Features:
  • Sculptural Aragonite crystal formations
  • Associated pale blue Celestite crystals
  • Intricate natural crystal architecture
  • Highly aesthetic and unusual Moroccan locality specimen
  • Fluorescence and phosphorescence
Why Collectors Value This Specimen:

The combination of Aragonite and Celestite is both visually striking and a geologically rarity. Collectors value these specimens for their delicate crystal growth, contrasting colours, and unusual mineral association. Material from Tounfit has earned an excellent reputation for its aesthetic quality, making these specimens highly desirable additions to both mineral collections and decorative displays.
