About Carpé Crystals

Welcome To Carpé Crystals

Minerals with a story

We’re passionate about minerals – not just how they look, but the story behind them.

At Carpé Crystals, we specialise in crystals, minerals and fossils from around the world, from beautiful accessible specimens to rare mineral species, exceptional formations and pieces with a history worth preserving.

For us, a specimen is more than something that looks good on a shelf. We want to know where it came from, when and how it was mined, and the story of the people and collections it has passed through.

We’re selective about the material we bring in and take pride in offering specimens that we would genuinely want in our own collection. Whether you’re buying your first mineral or adding to an established collection, our aim is simple: to offer interesting, well-presented specimens with accurate information and honest descriptions.

Knowledge matters

Minerals can be surprisingly easy to misidentify, and the difference between an attractive specimen and an exceptional one often lies in the details.

We research mineral species, localities, associations and provenance wherever reliable information is available, and we’re continually learning alongside the collectors, miners, dealers and mineral enthusiasts we work with.

We believe good mineral dealing should be built on knowledge, transparency and accuracy. If something is uncertain, we would rather tell you that than make a claim we cannot substantiate.

Provenance matters

One of the things we love most about mineral collecting is that specimens have a history – something that can easily be overlooked.

Our specimens come with locality cards detailing their location and, where possible, the exact mine, collection date, old labels, previous owners and documented collection history.

We also provide our own Property Cards with each specimen. You can choose between our Spiritual edition, which explores traditional and historical metaphysical properties, chakras and zodiac associations, or our Collector edition, which focuses on mineralogy, formations and history.

Both editions also provide information on how to care for your specimen, helping you understand not only what you have, but how to look after it.

Our Property Cards can be used to catalogue your specimens and work alongside The Crystal Companion, our dedicated mineral collecting binder designed to help you learn about, organise and archive your collection.

Where our minerals come from

We are passionate about sourcing ethically and responsibly, and place a strong emphasis on knowing where our material comes from and who we are buying it from.

We source directly from mines where possible, as well as from trusted suppliers and dealers and private collections, both in the UK and internationally. We also visit mines nationally and internationally where opportunities allow, helping us build relationships and better understand the material and localities we source.

We look for unusual material, interesting localities and specimens that offer something genuinely worth adding to a collection. This might be newly mined material from a locality rarely seen on the market, a specimen from a historic private collection, or simply a particularly beautiful example of a familiar mineral.

We believe responsible sourcing is an ongoing process, and we’re committed to continually improving how and where we source our material. Where reliable information about a specimen’s origin, locality or history is available, we want to share it.

What you see is what you get

Buying minerals online means you can’t pick up a specimen and examine it for yourself before purchasing it. We understand how important that is.

We photograph our specimens as accurately as possible and aim to show each piece as you will receive it, rather than relying on heavily edited imagery or photographs that disguise imperfections.

Our descriptions are intended to be informative and honest, including natural features, damage or imperfections that we think you should know about.

From first crystal to serious collection

Our collection is deliberately varied.

We offer specimens for people buying their first mineral alongside rare and unusual material for experienced collectors, dealers and institutions.

We don’t believe there is a single “right” way to collect. Some people collect by mineral species, others by locality, formation, colour or history. Others simply collect the specimens that stop them in their tracks.

Whatever brings you to minerals, we want you to find something that genuinely excites you.

Independent, growing and still obsessed with minerals

Carpé Crystals is independently owned and run by us, Maz and Ricky.

What began with a genuine love of crystals and mineral collecting has grown into an independent UK business supplying collectors across the UK and internationally.

When we started the business, one of the things that mattered most to us was creating a place where like-minded people could come together, discover something new and share their enthusiasm for crystals, minerals and collecting.

We love helping people find the piece that’s right for them, whether that’s their very first specimen or something they’ve been searching for for years. We’ve built a community of collectors, enthusiasts and crystal lovers along the way, and being able to share our passion with that community remains one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

As we’ve grown, our standards have grown with us.

We’re continually searching for better material, learning more about the minerals we sell and finding new ways to share the fascinating stories behind them.

We may have grown beyond our beginnings, but the reason we started remains the same: we love minerals, and we love finding specimens that we know other collectors will appreciate.

Every specimen is a small piece of natural history.

Sometimes it’s the locality. Sometimes it’s the mineral itself. Sometimes it’s the person who found it, the mine it came from, the collection it spent decades in, or the fact that material like it may never be available again.

That’s what makes mineral collecting so fascinating.

We’re simply here to help you discover it.
