A striking Stellar Beam Calcite specimen exhibiting large dogtooth formations the colour of honey with grey phantoms, and features well-developed crystal terminations. Calcite from this location is typically briefly acid-dipped to remove debris, resulting in a beautiful waxy lustre.
The Atlas Mountains of Morocco are renowned for producing a wide variety of aesthetically striking Calcite specimens in diverse crystal habits. Formed through hydrothermal activity within fractures and cavities in limestone host rock, Calcite from this region often develops unusual and highly sculptural growth patterns. Stellar Beam formations are particularly admired for their radiating structure and strong visual impact, making them standout pieces.
Stellar Beam Calcite is sought after for its dramatic growth and dynamic structure, which differs from more common rhombohedral or scalenohedral Calcite habits. Moroccan examples are especially appreciated for their scale and clarity of formation, making them both display-worthy and highly collectible.
