Description

A highly distinctive combination specimen featuring vibrant raspberry-pink Grossular Garnets attractively set on a Quartz matrix, accompanied by associated Vesuvianite. The Garnets display a rich, saturated raspberry tone with crystal definition and a naturally gemmy appearance, with many individual crystals well exposed, allowing their form and colour to be fully appreciated.

Displaying a dodecahedron crystal habit to more modified dodecahedral forms, the crystals show good lustre and strong colour, with some natural edge wear which in some cases reveals interesting internal zoning, including darker cores that add depth and insight into their growth history. The Vesuvianite crystals further enhances the mineralogical interest and aesthetic balance of the specimen.

Locality

Found exclusively from Sierra de Cruces in the Sierra Mojada Municipality of Coahuila, Mexico, a locality world-renowned for its unique raspberry-coloured Grossular Garnets. These Garnets were primarily recovered during the mid to late 1990s and are now considered a classic, finite find.

The region’s skarn-related geology produced conditions ideal for the formation of Grossular Garnet in association with Quartz and occasional Vesuvianite. This specific mineral assemblage is characteristic of the locality and contributes to its strong identity within the collector market.
