A superb Fluorite specimen from the Truffle Pig Pocket, showcasing well-formed crystals with excellent clarity and natural lustre. Material from this pocket is particularly admired for its vivid colouration, daylight UV reaction and overall aesthetic quality.
The Truffle Pig Pocket is a notable find from UK Mining Ventures (UKMV) discovered in May 2020 in the Sutcliffe Vein of the Diana Maria mine in the Weardale region of County Durham. One of the UK’s most famous Fluorite-producing areas, Weardale Fluorite is internationally recognised for its colour, fluorescence and distinctive cubic crystal habit.
Pockets discovered and worked by UKMV have produced some of the most exciting modern British Fluorite specimens, often in limited quantities. Material from named pockets such as Truffle Pig carries additional interest for collectors due to its traceability and rarity.
Weardale Fluorite is highly sought after for its colour, clarity and fluorescence. Specimens from named UKMV pockets are especially desirable due to their limited availability and strong provenance. Pieces like this represent modern British mineral collecting at its best, combining locality significance with strong visual appeal.
