Description

A striking example of purple Fluorite from Chamachhu, Pakistan, featuring crystal faces displaying fascinating geometric growth patterns, often described by collectors as ‘digital’ formations, where numerous small, angular steps create an almost pixelated appearance. These complex surfaces highlight the specimen’s rich purple colouration, while the stark blue centre adds an additional layer of depth.

The combination of contrasting colour zones and intricate crystal architecture makes this a particularly unusual and aesthetic example of Fluorite, with the textured surface and inky saturation differing from famous locals.

Locality

Chamachhu is situated in the Haramosh Mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, a spectacular mountainous region renowned for its mineral-rich geology and remarkable crystal discoveries.

The area is particularly well known for its complex granitic pegmatites, which have produced a fascinating variety of minerals, including Aquamarine, Tourmaline, Topaz, Garnet and other highly desirable collector species.

The dramatic geological landscape of northern Pakistan has yielded an extraordinary diversity of mineral specimens, with the region celebrated internationally for its exceptional crystal specimens and unusual mineral associations.

The distinctive stepped faces of this Fluorite reflect variations in crystal growth, where successive layers develop across the surface to create intricate geometric patterns. Its contrasting purple and blue colouration adds another fascinating feature, revealing variations within the crystal as it formed.
