Creating stunning crystal displays at home is one of the best ways to go about bringing your home to life in a truly unique and stunning way… but what you don’t want is to neglect your lighting systems when it comes time to display your key pieces.
The right lighting will serve to make your rare crystals sparkle and shine, showing them off at their best, whereas the wrong lighting will leave them looking dull and uninspiring – which no one wants!
Natural lighting is, of course, a key consideration and you’ll find that positioning your crystal collection somewhere that is already well lit will help them stand out, as well as helping to increase their energy and make them even more valuable additions to your home.
However, make sure that you research your crystals carefully as some types don’t do well when placed in direct sunlight and can even be damaged as a result. In this instance, you can still light your crystals up beautifully but you’ll need to use artificial lighting and different techniques in order to achieve the desired effect.
Use the crystal as the inspiration for your lighting systems. LED lights and spotlights are particularly useful for display purposes and you can use them strategically to highlight different features of your favourite gems and stones.
And don’t forget that you can mix and match different coloured light bulbs to suit the different colours of your crystals, or you could swap them in and out depending on the kind of atmosphere and ambience you want to create in your living spaces.
Back-lit displays will always look beautiful as well, but make sure that you take into account the size of your light source. Too big and you run the risk of making your crystals look flat. Instead, make sure that you use smaller points of light so that you can make everything sparkle from all angles.
