Many people choose to surround themselves with various types of healing crystals as a form of self-care. Having a large crystal collection likely means you have a variety of crystals which have varying care requirements.

Healing crystals influence, absorb and attract different energies and are a great way to realign and redirect your personal energy and help you to heal spiritually, emotionally and physically as well as help you to achieve goals and aspirations in your life.

There are many different ways you can cleanse your crystals, allowing any negative energies to be removed and giving them the chance to recharge and reactivate, however, these may not necessarily clean the crystals.

Different crystals require different methods of physical cleaning in order to remain sparkly and fresh. As with any of your belongings, crystals may gather dust or debris over time so finding a safe way to clean them as well as cleanse them ensures they stay looking amazing.

Many crystals are water-safe, meaning you can clean them by simply running them under water or wiping them with a damp cloth. When done gently, this should not disturb the crystal and will remove any dust or dirt without damaging the crystal itself.

If you prefer, using water that has been collected naturally such as rainwater or water from rivers and other bodies of water may be preferred as this can also be used as a method of cleansing.

There are a lot of crystals that cannot be exposed to water, however, due to them being water soluble or potentially toxic.

Any crystals that contain metal ores such as iron should not be cleaned in water. This is due to the fact that they can rust if exposed to water for long periods of time. If you must use water, ensure these crystals are completely dry afterward.

Crystals that are water soluble, such as selenite, should not be cleaned with water at all. These crystals are very soft and must be handled with care and can quite literally dissolve in water.

Instead, take a soft, small brush or soft rag or cloth and gently wipe the crystal. Do this with care and do not use too much pressure. This should clean off any dust or dirt effectively without damaging the crystal.
