Crystals have been used for thousands of years to promote healing and enlightenment, and there are all sorts of different stones you can bring into your home to help you mentally, physically and emotionally.
What you may notice over time, however, is that your crystal collection starts to lose its potency and, if this is the situation you currently find yourself in, you may want to consider cleansing them so as to restore their energy so they can continue serving you well.
Interestingly, some believe that if you’re using your crystals for healing work, you should consider cleansing them before and afterwards to help promote absorption and release of energy.
But how do you go about cleansing crystals? What exactly does the process involve?
You’ll find that there are lots of different ways you can go about cleansing and it’s often said that the type of stone will dictate the most appropriate method, as well as the nature of the crystal and even its colour.
If you have a soft stone, for example, sunlight or moonlight can be used for cleansing. It only takes a matter of hours for the sun to cleanse your stones, but note that this can cause fading, so moonlight may be preferable (although it can take longer).
You can, of course, also use water (salted or plain) to physically clean your crystals, but be aware that this can cause degradation of the stone itself, so make sure it’s appropriate for the gems in your collection.
And yet another alternative method is using a sound bath, with many believing that this is actually the most effective way of going about it. You’ll need something like a tuning fork or singing bowl to help promote positive energy, with the vibrations from the sound penetrating the crystal structure and restoring balance once again.
Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preference as to how you choose to bring your crystals back to life. So just have a play around and see which method you prefer.
